Victor Avenue

Victor Avenue is a street in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, a borough two miles long and never more than six blocks wide, laid along the east side of the First Watchung ridge. It was farms and woodland on the hill above Bloomfield until the railway came in 1856; it became a town of its own in 1895, and it still lights its streets with gas. The avenue sits about halfway down the slope. Across the plate the ground falls a hundred and ninety feet, off the shoulder of the ridge and toward the Passaic.
